The Third World Poker Congress takes place in Budapest, Hungary on 29-30 October.  Several interesting speakers have been lined up for the event and there will also be presentations from many well-informed business people giving their views on the poker industry.

Although it is only recently that online poker has been accepted in Italy, it has already proved to be very successful.  So successful that it is estimated that hundreds of thousands of Italians could be playing online very soon.  So far there are two online companies offering online poker, but it is believed that many more will soon be offering their services.

According to a new scientific study printed in the Psychology and Aging journal, if you start gambling on the internet when you are young you will probably suffer less bad effects compared to starting to gamble when you are older.  This is contrary to what we are led to believe by the powers that be who do everything they can to censor internet gambling for the young.  Indeed it is now thought that it is the older generation who are likely to become addicts.

Poker tournaments are legal.  So says a municipal court in Denmark recently, despite a previous ruling by the Justice Ministry’s legal affairs committee in 2006 that poker was considered as illegal gambling.  The reason for the recent ruling is because poker is so popular - half a million Danes play as often as they can.  Apparently poker has to be played with wisdom and intelligence.

Players can work their way up from the “cheap seats,” build tournament credits for other qualifiers, blast through a Turbo Quarterfinal or two, or skip the line and buy directly into one of the $300 + $20 buy-in Semifinal events held over the next three Sundays at 3:15 p.m.
